Well as I'm thinking of blog topics I want to write about I got a block... then I stumble and find a few ideas. Like how my weeks been, and how many hats I wear (random thought), then I thought about how I want to write from behind the camera.
Then kijiji took me into it's grasp.....
Okay I've escaped the grasps of dreaming on kijiji, onto the blog post
My weeks have toned down a bit. I haven't been out to riding.... that's a long story, not for this blog entry. But it has freed up more time for editing and for cleaning my room which I must admit gets into a disaster more times then I'd like it to. This weekend was pretty busy, Chris' cousin got married so we had a BBQ friday night where we got to hang out with a lot of his family. A lot of kids under 14, it was super busy trying to help out and entertain kids and clean up the juice the babies kept spilling everywhere. Then Saturday morning we got recruited to help set up the wedding venue. That was a task and a half, thankfully there were quite a few people there to help. I kinda like doing that kind of stuff, hopefully one day I'll get married so now with the wedding I was just in and helping out with this one it gives me more of an idea what I want and what to expect and what I don't want. Saturday was also busy because you have to be here, then there, then wait for 2 hours, then rush here because someone forgot something. But it was a beautiful wedding and I got a few pictures that I really like. I'm still fighting with my flash, it's just not working how I want it to. We are speaking different languages to one another :/
So for pictures we went to a park that I have shot at before. Its really nice. I kinda felt like I was stepping on the other photographers feet but the family was kind of not listening and with all the little kids I wanted to get it as fast as possible because they were getting tired. So I started lining up extended family that wanted their individual families done. More or less I was recruited by Chris' aunt. Which i was more then game for. Natural light portraits are what I like to do most. I really like the pictures and how they came out.
From there I'm going to jump to the fact I want to write my perspective of being behind the camera. Most of the times I am nervous as all hell. I get butterflies before every session I go to. Sometimes I even feel sick to the point where I have to talk to myself and be like okay Megan just calm down it'll be okay. Why am I nervous you ask; well I have so many things running though my head; remeber the props? what happens if it rains? what are they going to wear? will it flatter them? I really hope I won't have to photoshop a lot, what happens if they hate all the photos I take?
that ones a big one, always weighs my conscious down. What happens if they hate all the photos I take. Well seriously then what? Rebook? I think that's my biggest thing that gets me from doing weddings. I am so nervous something will go wrong and the entire thing will be shot. Like as in not turn out. Then what?! Can't redo it. Then your the bad guy. I don't want to be the bad guy.
I also sometimes get stuck in the common poses and compositions that I turn my creative side off. When I go back to edit I'm like ugh I could have been so much more creative then that. I think my nervousness shuts me down. More so just part of my brain. But in my defense when photographing say a couple, if you let them move together instead of trying to pose them their faces show it all. If you pose them their faces look contorted and not normal. You let the couple have an intimate conversation and you just snap away, ya you might have the odd one where the lips look weird from talking but you get relaxed faces and genuine smiles and such.
To sum it up I am perma scared everyone will hate my photos. I judge myself so much already :/ I seriously think I under value myself all the time.
Hats (okay I know like I've said before this blog is all over the place and I can now see it's getting long too....)(One day I shall learn to make it flow better)
anyways, yes, hats
my steam to write abut hats has fled me. And no I am not talking regular hats. I actually don't wear hats that often. I do a bunch of different roles though and thats where this was supposed to be going. But instead I thought you'd like photos.
So here's the photos
Gave me a good lol
Another funny
I saw this on the way to the wedding I was attending, turned out one of the Redline Society guys was getting married just a stone throw away from the wedding I was attending. (Okay a stone thrown across a mini river.. and dog park... and well you'd have to be some sort of pro athletic player of serious steroids to actually make the stone go from one building to the next. But you get what I'm trying to say)
From the wedding
This is what happens when a can of carpet cleaner falls out of your truck and hits the ground the wrong way. I thought it was hilarious... Chris... not so much.
Here is a really bad picture of one of the feral kittens that lives in my neighborhood. I feel so sad for these guys. :( People just spay and neuter your pets!
We put together a dip party at work. It was fabulous!
Kyla has got me listening to Songza at work, this i my new favorite song.
We had double date night here this past week. It was good just to go out the four of us. The food was amazing!
Seriously, this is a bucket of bacon served with maple syrup to dip it in. Beyond good!
Had a little incident while being stupid with scissors. Remember kids, just use scissors on paper and not to try and pry things apart with them :/
So the one day I finally take my car out and decide to get some errands done this happens. For those of you who do not know, yes my steering wheel is on the right side, no the picture isn't reversed, no it's not illegal, yes I got it from Japan, yes the shift pattern is the same.
Hail came shortly after the flash flood of rain. I tried to hid my car next to the shopping cart house thing. Thankfully I was also luck and didn't end up in a low spot.
I was stupid enough to continue my errands after the flash flood/hail/more flash flood... story continues in next photo
See the house thing in the back left side.. ya I walked there in the mud and through the junk yard in my flip flops. No it wasn't my original idea. I went to bucks knowing I didn't have to walk through the yard to get to the office. No luck in the parts I needed, so the girl gave me a number to the other salvage yard. After trying to get them to answer for 20 minutes (line always busy) I took a jaunt out there to find I had to walk through their yard to get to the office. :| Normally I dress for this occasion... alas I didn't have my steels or rubber boots nor my coveralls. But my treacherous walk wasn't for nothing, the guy thinks he has the parts I want... just in the back of the lot. Oh and did I forget to mention my tetanus shot ran out in December :/ (also a side not I did not know it was tet-anus i say it tetnus ... well learned another new thing today)
Selfie... phone camera is sucking :/
Photoshoot I got to do last weekend. This little guy was stoked to have a cake to smash all to himself
Such a freaken cutie!

Chain gang
So over the last little bit I have been super busy. But that’s not news to you.
I babysat the barn for my co trainer and manager of the barn I help train at. We managed to get a lot accomplished. We pressure washed the wash bay, realizing that it mostly needs new paint and that the pressure washer was just taking off the bulk of the crappy paint that was on there. Cleaned the bottom around the mats and made it look pretty nice. I got the rest of the buckets scrubbed and washed out. Managed to work with all the horses I wanted to. It was pretty hard working by myself when normally I have a helping hand. Chris did come out and was a great help with cleaning and helping me fix the sump pumps. Its hard to get help training with non horsie people because you don’t want them to get hurt.
We also managed to tie up the fallen barbed wire and pounded two new fence posts. Chris swept the whole barn. And my goddaughter and son came out to help brush some of the horses. I wanted to get Vik to ride but it was her first time seeing a horse and she was pretty scared so I didn’t push her. Hopefully next time.
Next on the busy list was getting prepped for one of my best friends weddings and Canada day celebrations. Every year I have friends at the cabin and they tent on the lawn and we drink and have fun and light of fire works. Well this time around we did all of that and I also got to be part of the wedding party!
Cutting the grass out at the beach was like wacking through a jungle! We hadn’t been out in 2 weeks so there was about 6-8” of grass growth. Besides the fact that one lawn mower wouldn’t start right away and then Kayla had a little incident with the mower and a rock. We managed to get all the laws cut in 4 hours, which also included kayla setting up two tents. Pretty productive for a day off.
The wedding was beautiful, it was a sunny hot day out and it was just amazing. Every little thing about the wedding was fine tuned to be exactly like the couple. There was a potato bar (super cool), Candy bar, and then bubbles and awesome entertainment.
I feel so bad not driving my car as much this summer L . besides the fact that something is messed up on the right rear side I have been having some minor smaller other issues, like my fuel line decided that it didn’t want to stay clamped anymore (thankfully it was just from the metal line to the filter). So new line and hoses were put on. Then for the past while I have been losing coolant, I was thinking ‘ohh crap, my head gasket it going, booooo’ but for the most part it’s turning out that my rad hose/heater hose is leaking. The clamp isn’t doing its job. Yay another easy fix. I still haven’t been driving it much, between carpooling to work, and borrowing the truck or suv to go out to ride. Next little while my goal is to drive it more! Also forgot to mention the fuel line issue cost me ¼ of a tank before I found the issue, fixed it the first time…. Went to drive it again and realized it came undone again.. then actually put the parts on. It was like watching money pour out of the car. Very sad to watch
