Thinkin Positive!

I frequent the site Post Secret and a few months ago a post card was posted that was from a father to a daughter, I forget what it exactly said but it was along the lines of 'When you grow up you will run into tough times, I too have been through those tough times. I want you to do these things for me: Stay active, think of something positive...' and a list of about 9 things. I forget the rest but the whole "Think positive" one really stuck. Every once and a while I get down in the dumps, either home sick or just the world is out to get me. I'm now trying to realize when this is happening and to try and stop it before I wallow in it. I hate to wallow and be bummed out. So eveytime I have some negative thought I counter act it by three positive ones.
Example would be not feeling very confident in my self body image. I would then think of three positive things (sometimes they aren't the nicest but they help me feel a little better then myself) 1) At least i'm not on the one ton woman show on tv 2) i've gone to the gym 6 times this week so I know i'm working on it, maybe I will see results soon 3) I have people that love me for who I am, as I am

some of the other more generic ones i've used are.
  • Hey at least I woke up breathing this morning
  • People love me
  • I am getting an education
  • I'm not a starving child in a poor country
  • I have a family who cares about me
  • I am able bodied
  • The sore muscles are a good thing!
So sometimes when I don't catch it right away the more generic ones work, being grateful for what I have and not letting things get me down has really helped with keeping stress levels down. Which is one of the new years resolutions.

Ohh on the topic of new years resolutions, which my gym one has been going dandy (thanks for asking). I saw a few facebook statuses about "Why do people make such a fuse over the new year, it's just another day. blah blah blah" That made me think, 'you must not celebrate your birthday then either, do you?' I think new years resolutions is a good time to set goals. Yes it may not work for everyone, but it is a date when you can tell others what you want to change about yourself. By telling people you are more or less making a promise to do something, by telling that person(s) you are solidifying it as not 'just another thought'.

I wish everyone good luck with their new years resolutions! Remember they may have to grow and change with you/your life as the year goes on. Don't get down on yourself if you have to tweek them a bit.

**note that below there is a not to nice picture, you have been forwarned. It is a little girl giving the finger. I didn't mean to screen cap it but it ended up at the bottom of what I wanted to capture

Through my eyes
If you've read any of my posts from last semester you will probably see that I used to try and do all of my work and study on my bed. Its comfy so I thought why not. Then I realized (and my old roomie, whom I terribly miss pointed out) that maybe it is the cause of my lack of being able to sleep or at least contributing to it. So i've not started to try and do it at the table. Here's hoping!

Screen shot from my phone... I found this hilarious

Another screen shot from my phone. This was seriously making me mad. So many nicely done up cars were/are getting stolen. People put there time/effort/soul into their car and for some A-hole to come and take that. Did you not go to kindergarden!!!! if it's not yours then don't f-ing touch it! /rant

Thought the top write up was so funny!

Another one off of BestDem

Explains itself. haha

When I got back to Calgary after xmas it looked like this around here.... until about 12 hours after this picture was taken we got a snow dump.

Random, kind of complicated but really not that bad of a diagram

I made myself a London Fog the other night. I love my one bestie Jess for teaching me how to make them <3

You can see some of my christmas presents being put to use here. Also 3/4 days off class i'm stuck in scrubs this semester :| I guess it's okay because I don't really have to think about what to wear in the morning. But I do prefer my yoga pants over scrub pants.

Ya a lot of selfies, this one showing the blue eyes and the locally made head band I bought at Regina's True Knit art/craft show! Does it make me a bad person that I feel high and mighty/proud that I bought a local made head band. Which is wayyyyy better then my store bought ones btw.

Show from class. Brainstorming ideas... actually I believe my group was off in lala land talking about something else until the teacher started asking the different groups for their ideas. Talk about crunch, we got 'er done though!

Found at the dollar store

omg. Gen and I were walking back to campus when I saw this in a parking lot. At first  was confused by the taillights and Gen thought I was crazy traipsing across the parking lot too take a picture of this thing. For those of you who don't know this is a modified 99-03 Honda Accord (I believe I got the years right, mine was an '01). I used to own a stock looking '01 Accord. I took the picture, walking away shaking my head. Some people and their ideas of cool...
