Learning a new language as of lately, it's the medical language, and boy is it hard. Some of the words/abreviations are easy and straight forward

n - normal

OD - Once a day

BP - Blood Pressure

Dr. - Doctor

e - exhalation

FYI - for your information

ect

But there are the ones that make no sense at all or that are just hard to remember because they don't come up in everyday conversations.

FOB - (no it doesn't mean fresh off the boat) foot of bed, foreign object body

Hgb - Hemoglobin

NARD - no apparent respiratory distress

HTN - hypertension 

Br/s - breath sounds

c(with line overtop) - mean "with"

s(with line overtop) - means "without"

ex)

Three weeks ago if you would have read me that I would have looked at you sideways and wondered what language, if not turning into an Alien. But tonight when I read that I only had to look up one abbreviation. Yay me! For those of you that want to know what that says

"... with a ""needed" "Arterial Blood Gas" for "Shortness of Breath"" ordered with a continuous pulse oximeter (machine to measure the saturation of oxygen in your blood) and "Electrocardiogram" (measures the electrical activity of the heart)."

I have started learning medical terminology as well, Electrocardiogram is an example. Electro - electric, cardio - means heart, gram - drawing.
These are still pretty hard for me, so feel free to quiz or ask me questions on it. Getting quized on it is the way I learn best.

Went to the student run store today, picked up some pulled pork and a big loaf of bread for $5!! Pulled pork is awesome and will probably last me at least 5 meals.

Used my new food to make me lunch. I also have to say I LOVE living by myself and not having to worry about cooking for anyone else. I eat what I want, how much I want, and as weird of things together as I want. Point in case here, two pieces of pulled pork buns and then I felt like PB&J so one slice of that. mhhhmm good lunch!

After returning from the store at lunch I also found out the hard way that my key card to get into my room got deactivated :( . This isn't the first time :( No idea why it keeps happening
